Today our 5th graders got to experience a presentation from the Northern Illinois Raptor Rehab and Education Center. Students listened to information, got introduced to live birds, and had a chance to walk around an exhibit put together by the team.

Students in 2nd grade enjoyed a field trip to North Central College to see the play Elephant and Piggy today. This play is based on the beloved books by Mo Williams. The students really enjoyed the entertainment, while also demonstrating great behaviors out in their community!

🏃♀️🏃♂️I forgot to take pictures earlier in the week, but hopefully your children talked about the recess option that we had available for them - Track Relay Races with REAL batons! The kids had a blast running around the track with partners and/or groups and seeing who was the fastest! 🏃♀️🏃♂️

River View's Trunk or Treat is underway! 5-6:30pm. You still have time! We have 25 spookily decorated cars to check out! Additionally, we have a mobile Papa John's truck, so you can get your dinner and dessert all in one spot! Come before the candy runs out!!!
Our final day of Outdoor Education for our 5th graders was a BLAST! Our fishing station was HOPPING - literally - as students caught a frog - twice! The naturalists helped students use their senses and their skills at describing directives to help lead groups safely around the woods. We lucked out with the weather again, and each student came back with a tie dyed t-shirt, a group chant, and an experience that they will remember for years to come!

Today was another great day to have 5th grade Outdoor Ed! Some students got to visit Orienteering with Mr McNabb and Mrs McKenna, and learned how to read and use a compass. Others got to go with a naturalist on a hunt for fungi and other living things. Another group brainstormed a group chant around the name of their animal group. Reports were very positive on day 2!

Continuing with sharing some of the great activities our 5th graders got to experience as part of their Outdoor Ed experience! These stations were hiking through the woods with the naturalist and another station was learning about UV rays and making beaded bracelets that change with exposure to the sun!
Our 5th grade students participated in day one of three Outdoor Education days. One station is tie dying their shirts, to have something to remember the trip. One station is team building where students have to work together to achieve a goal!
