Foundation in Focus
$1,000 Community Service Scholarships
The Foundation for Excellence
recognizes the importance and value of being involved in the community. To honor the contribution of student
volunteers, the Foundation awards community service scholarships to graduating seniors. Seniors from each
of the high schools and from Plainfield Academy are eligible to apply for the $1,000 scholarships. The $1,000 scholarship must be used to further the
student’s education at a post secondary college or university, a junior college or a trade or technology school.
To qualify for a scholarship, a student should submit an application form detailing his or her involvement in school
and community volunteer activities. Applications are available at each high school, the Academy
and online.
Foundation trustees will review the applications; scholarships will be awarded at each school’s
Senior Awards Night. The Community
Service Scholarship is an example of the Foundation for Excellence at work in District 202 and in the broader community.
The Foundation’s commitment to enhancing, enriching and extending learning comes into clear focus through this
scholarship program. Helping District 202 students fulfill their potential through post high school education
is an investment in the future. Generous individuals and businesses who contribute to the work of the foundation
- many through the payroll deduction plan – provide the monetary resources to make these scholarships possible.
